Return to Play is around the corner !!!

It’s been over 2 months with no Touch Football so we hope this update finds everyone all well. We have all missed Touch Footy and mostly we have missed having you all around the club! We are looking forward to the further easing of restrictions, so with this in mind, the Palm Beach Touch committee want to give you an update of where we are at.

The Queensland Government and Queensland Touch Association have provided Return to Play Guidelines to all sporting associations and clubs. The PBT committee are working with our State Body and have reviewed the Stage 3 guidelines for a return to play on July 10th as per the Qld Government Road Map. The Road Map is for 100 people per venue for community sport. Our Palm Beach Touch Community has over 500 players on a Monday & over 600 on a Friday.

Therefore to adhere to these guidelines, at Stage 3 we will only be opening access to Referee Courses & Coaching Courses.

There will be a compulsory Senior Team Delegate meeting and compulsory Junior Team Delegate meeting to inform everyone what changes we have made and will be continuing with in regards to COVID-19 and our upcoming competitions and courses. We will inform you of these dates as soon as possible.

Now the big question – what is our immediate plan?

Last week we sent an email letter to all team delegates to communicate with their teams.

Mallawa Sports Complex is open to the ‘public’ for small groups to come down & do their own fitness and training. Palm Beach Touch is not responsible for any teams or clubs that use the field and anyone that does train should comply with government protocols and policy.

Our Senior Season 1 competition will recommence when level 4 easing of restrictions occurs. We are hoping this will be the 10th August and the competition will run for 12 weeks plus finals. Grand Finals will be on Saturday 14th November. There will be no additional cost to any teams that were in season 1 and roll over into season 2. If any new teams want to join the competition there will be a brief window to register.

Our Junior Season is reviewing options for Term 1 when stage 4 restrictions are open in August. We potentially could replay the washout week 4, then hold the remaining 2 rounds. Juniors will then have a slightly longer school holiday break to align back to start our Term 4 School Term Touch as normal.

We look forward to seeing you all soon.
